About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Careers Advisor to join our team at HMP Durham. As a Careers Advisor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality careers information, advice, and guidance to offenders, helping them to explore their aspirations and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver careers/employability workshops to support offenders in achieving their education and employment goals
  • Provide quality careers information, advice, and guidance to clients, using a range of presentation and communication skills
  • Work with offenders to understand their experience, skills, and aspirations, and support them in developing Personal Learning Plans
  • Build relationships with local employers and key suppliers to provide opportunities for offenders to gain employment and education
  • Contribute to the development of a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the achievement of qualifications and career aspirations
Requirements
  • Level 3 IAG qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of providing quality careers information, advice, and guidance to clients
  • Experience of developing and delivering careers/employability workshops
  • A passion for inspiring and motivating offenders to achieve their goals
  • Confidence in using a range of presentation and communication skills
  • A background in working with disadvantaged people in a secure environment is desirable
  • IAG Level 4 Qualification or willingness to work towards
