About the Role

As a Careers Advisor for PeoplePlus, you will be based at HMP Durham. Your primary goal will be to deliver high-quality, impartial information, advice, and guidance to offenders in custody. You will work closely with prisoners to understand their skills, aspirations, and long-term goals, providing them with the necessary support for their education and employment both during and after their incarceration.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver Careers Information and Guidance: Provide high-quality, impartial careers information, advice, and guidance to offenders in custody, helping them explore their skills and aspirations.
  2. Develop Personal Learning Plans: Work with prisoners to develop Personal Learning Plans, identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, and providing them with the necessary support to achieve their goals.
  3. Facilitate Employability Sessions: Deliver group employability sessions, providing offenders with the skills and knowledge needed to secure employment upon release.
  4. Build Relationships with Employers: Establish and maintain relationships with local employers and key suppliers, identifying opportunities for prisoners to gain work experience and develop their employability skills.
