Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHSFT. This exciting opportunity will enable you to develop your skills in the assessment and management of swallowing and communication difficulties with a range of conditions.

Main Duties

As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing a variety of acquired communication and swallowing disorders across a varied caseload. You will provide an inpatient service to patients with acquired communication/swallowing disorders, including dementia, progressive neurological disorders, and TBI.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications include a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy, membership of RCLST, and current Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. You must also provide evidence of successful completion of postgraduate study in dysphagia and ongoing CPD to meet regulatory body professional standards.

Desirable qualifications include membership of relevant special interest groups and experience in delivering education and training packages.

Key Skills and Abilities

You will possess a high level of competency in the assessment and management of adults with a range of communication and swallowing disorders. You must be able to prioritise and manage a large caseload, work independently, and recognise when to seek support for clinical issues. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively using the English language in both verbal and written forms.
