About the Role

At Google, we prioritize user-centric design principles to create intuitive and seamless experiences for billions of people worldwide. As a Product Design Specialist, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for crafting industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution.

The UX team at Google is comprised of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers who share a passion for understanding user attitudes, emotions, and behaviors. We collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to develop innovative products that deliver value for users and Google's businesses.

As a Product Design Specialist, you will rely on user-centered design methods to create innovative and inspired products that people love to use. You will work closely with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language, ensuring that our products are beautiful, intuitive, and meet the highest standards of user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
  • Advocate for the prioritization of design-centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product design or UX design.
  • Experience with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVisio, Figma, Principle, etc.).
  • Experience in defining and expanding design systems, components, and patterns.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 1 year of experience leading design projects.
