Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

We are working closely with a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer on a 3-month contract, which may be extended at the client's discretion.

Rate of Pay: £33.54 per hour PAYE

Job Summary:

This role involves managing and organizing the provision of specialist environmental health technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and wellbeing, contributing to the delivery of the council's objectives and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and enforce environmental health policies, utilizing specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and wellbeing.
  • Conduct routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation, taking action to improve conditions, and gathering evidence as necessary.
  • Investigate complaints from the general public and provide advice and assistance to householders and businesses.
  • Deliver talks at public meetings, exhibitions, and other events, ensuring compliance through education, advice, and enforcement.
  • Take enforcement action, initiate legal proceedings, and prepare and give evidence in court as required.
Requirements:
  • Further qualification in environmental health disciplines.
  • 2 A levels and 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English).
  • Degree or Diploma in environmental health or a relevant qualification.
  • Completion of practical training.
  • Work experience in environmental health or a related field.
