Job Title: Grid Connections Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Grid Connections Specialist to join our team at UK Networks Services.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity involves managing the grid connection process with DNOs and IDNOs, ensuring seamless integration of large scale PV, wind, CHP, and EHV grids.

  • The core responsibility is to oversee the grid connection process, but we also encourage those who thrive in diverse projects to apply.
  • As a Grid Connections Specialist, you may be involved in tech-enabled grid control systems, exploring innovative solutions, or using your expertise to find solutions where others have failed.
Your Key Responsibilities:
  • You will analyze electricity networks for connection applications, up to and including Self Determination of the Point of Connection for LV and 11kV connections.
  • You will create and maintain strong relationships internally and with customers, DNOs, IDNOs, and ICP.
  • You will prepare high-level engineering drawings and applications to DNOs and IDNOs for connection offers.
  • You will assist the ICP tender process (including technical and commercial review of tender returns).
  • You will manage the connection offer process and provide hands-on support for the customer, including the review of connection offers for engineering, commercial, and practical implications.
Your Requirements:
  • You must have significant experience in LV & HV electrical distribution network design.
  • Experience of NERS design approval process with DNO/IDNO/ICP is an advantage.
  • You should be familiar with electricity design software tools (WinDebut, IPSA, ELEK Cable HV, ELEK Safe Grid, AutoCAD or their equivalents).
  • You should possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with senior management and customers.
  • You should have strong technical and mathematical skills.
  • You should be able to self-start and work without direct supervision.
  • You should be able to structure work, record keep, and support company certification by working with good governance.
  • You should have a professional manner, enabling you to represent the company.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK - we are unable to sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
  • You should have a full, clean driving licence and passport.
