Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at The Action Group. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with epilepsy and PEG-gastrostomy care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice the TAG Key Worker system, including organising support plans and case reviews with relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals, supporting them to maintain acceptable and adequate levels of self-care.
  • Develop meaningful and trusting relationships with individuals, helping them to gain insight into their own behaviour, attitudes, and reactions.
  • Encourage independence in daily living activities, supporting individuals only when necessary.
  • Promote hobbies, interests, and activities, and encourage participation in community life.
  • Directly assist with personal care as required.
  • Work with individuals to maximise their ability to communicate effectively and promote self-advocacy.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals when needed, liaising with external organisations regarding benefits, education, tenancy, and employment.
  • Work with relatives and carers of individuals, arranging support plans and dealing with complaints and frustrations.
  • Find out about local services, amenities, and organisations available to individuals.
  • Participate flexibly in shift work patterns, including regular working outside weekday office hours and undertaking 'sleepover' or 'waking night' duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is required.
  • PVG clearance is also required.

  • Not afraid to think, reflect on practice, learn from experience, and put themselves in others' shoes.
