About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Lead to join our team at St Aldates. As an integral part of our operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth running of our church and office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead events, facilities, and verger teams to oversee operational aspects of main events, particularly on Sundays and mid-week, ensuring resourcing across various teams.
  • Oversee one-off events such as Vision Dinners and Church Offsite Days, aligning with the church's mission and values and meeting congregational needs. Collaborate with SLT and Head of Finance, IT, and Admin to agree plans and budgets.
  • Maintain buildings in good condition, cleanliness, and security at all times (including out-of-hours emergencies).
  • Supervise external contractors when required.
  • Lead Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Ensure Safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Oversee purchasing consumables needed for operations, maintaining adequate stock levels and securing best prices.
  • Execute building improvement plans in consultation with Facilities Manager, Head of Finance, IT, and Admin, and Rector.
  • Manage key relationships with neighbors.

Line Management

  • Provide line management as required, including goal setting, performance management, support with task planning and execution, identifying learning opportunities, and accountability for report outcomes and outputs.

Requirements

  • Proven people management experience, leading a team and resolving difficult situations.
  • Familiarity with fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to deliver customer service under pressure (in our context, customers are ministry-facing staff and the congregation).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse groups.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £50,000 per annum, reflecting the importance of this role in supporting the smooth operation of our church and office.
