Job Summary

The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Fellow in Acute Oncology to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional to gain valuable experience in acute oncology and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients presenting to both oncology and emergency medicine departments, under the supervision of the consultant team.
  • Participate in the Junior Doctor rota, with 80% of time dedicated to clinical duties and 20% to non-clinical work.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance and audit initiatives, promoting a culture of quality improvement and patient safety.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the GMC with a valid licence to practice.
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • ALS certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience on an UK Foundation Programme or higher (or equivalent).
  • 1 year experience of working in the NHS as a doctor.
  • Minimum of four months full-time equivalent experience in UK Emergency Medicine in a Foundation post or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working in a UK Major Trauma Centre or Teaching Hospital Trust in a Foundation post or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates a keen interest in acute oncology, with at least 4 months clinical experience in the field.
  • Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors.
  • Awareness of ethical issues.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
