Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Leidos UK & Europe. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the development of cutting-edge air traffic control systems.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have over 5 years of experience in systems engineering and a strong understanding of Agile development methodologies. They will work closely with Subject Matter Experts, product architects, and product requirements to deliver high-quality solutions and meet sprint milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with SMEs, product architects, and product requirements to define low-level software requirements.
  • Conduct functional and technical analysis to shape the system design.
  • Produce detailed engineering artefacts such as engineering plans, system element descriptions, control and monitoring design documents, interface design documents, failure modes effect analysis, and safety artefacts associated with ED109A.
  • Prepare operational instructions and training material for software applications and supporting tools.
  • Assist in defining overarching product concepts and software architecture.
  • Investigate problems identified during test and operations, including problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Review test artefacts such as test cases and test procedures.
  • Apply standards, processes, and principles in daily activities.
  • Assist with impact assessments for product releases or change requests.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, SAFe).
  • Knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira).
  • Familiarity with systems/software design tools (e.g. Apache Camel, Apache Kafka).
  • Understanding of Control and Monitoring technologies.
