About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Process Technician to work at an Energy Combined Head & Intelligent Power Plant located in south-east London. The plant is fuelled by bio-liquids powering a MAN B&W marine 2 stroke diesel engine coupled to a 13 MW generator. Exhaust gases drive a turbo generator feeding the local LV site distribution system, before being treated through a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, then released to atmosphere.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • MONITORING AND CONTROLLING PLANT PARAMETERS AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATE FIRST LINE DEFECT REPAIR.
  • WORKING AS PART OF A SHIFT TEAM TO ENSURE SAFE, EFFICIENT OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE & IMPROVEMENT.
  • INTERPRETING AND CONTROLLING PLANT OPERATIONS THROUGH THE PLANT DCS.
  • PROVIDING PLANT START UP AND SHUTDOWN SERVICES AND PARTICIPATING IN EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES.
  • COMPLETING ASSIGNED SAFETY DUTIES INCLUDING SAFE SYSTEMS OF WORK, SETTING PEOPLE TO WORK & HOUSEKEEPING.

Requirements:

To be successful, you must have:

  • A strong background in engineering or process disciplines, ideally with a time-served apprenticeship (NVQ 3).
  • Proven experience working in a shift pattern and contributing to continuous process environments.
  • Excellent fault-finding, route cause analysis, problem-solving, and data monitoring skills.
  • The ability to follow procedures, systems & processes and meet targets.
  • Prior experience in making practical recommendations to continually improve operations.
  • Knowledge of Safe System of Work processes & procedures: Permit to work: risk assessments & method statements.
