About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Director to lead our building construction activity, delivering a wide range of projects safely, sustainably, and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of managing multiple projects, with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of commercial issues.

The Construction Director will be responsible for the successful delivery of key strategic Council priority programmes and projects, developing and implementing strategies, processes, and policies that enable delivery of corporate objectives. They will also be responsible for robustly managing project and programme performance, reporting to Members, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and external partners such as the Department for Education (DfE).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, with experience of leading and developing multi-disciplinary design and construction delivery teams. They will also have a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of commercial issues, and the ability to bring expertise in quality design to the team.
