Main Responsibilities

The Nursing Associate will work in a variety of settings, providing holistic, person-centred care and support for people of all ages. They will work independently to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, undertaking aspects delegated by registered nurses and allied health professionals.

The Nursing Associate will have a breadth of knowledge across the four pillars of nursing practice: Clinical Practice, Facilitating Learning, Leadership, and Research/Audit awareness. They will be accountable, equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and behaviours, and work to a nationally recognised code of conduct defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Key Duties
  • Adhere to Trust policy for safe keeping of patients' personal possessions
  • Undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment
  • Assist with ordering, unpacking, and checking of stores
  • Assist in cost-effective and efficient utilisation of hospital supplies and resources
  • Clean patient trolleys and other furniture and/or equipment
  • Answer telephone in correct manner and take messages as appropriate
  • Listen to impromptu complaints and refer to appropriate person
  • Assist in general cleanliness and tidiness of SPEAC clinic rooms and Minor Operating Room
  • Participate in annual performance review
  • Understand importance of fire precautions and be aware of hospital policy regarding emergency procedures
  • Be aware of correct procedure in event of respiratory/cardiac arrest and assist as instructed
  • Be aware of responsibility in respect of protection of vulnerable children and adults
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register, with GCSE Grade A-C/Level 4-9 in Maths & English or equivalent. They will have significant experience working within a healthcare environment and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The candidate will be able to motivate themselves and work with all levels of staff, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. They will be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, and be an effective role model.
