We're seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join our Histology team at HCA Laboratories in Shropshire House. The successful candidate will have experience in both Histology and Digital Pathology.

HCA Laboratories has over 35 years' experience in providing pathology services, including acute care, IVF clinics, insurance work, healthcare screening, and GP services. We cover all disciplines in pathology, including allergy, biochemistry, endocrinology, haematology, histopathology, cytology, immunology, and microbiology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and maintain registration.
  • Follow HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC and work consistently to ISO 15189 (2012) and UKAS accreditation.
  • Lead Digital Pathology in HCA Cellular Pathology department and provide support for Backlogs.
  • Carry out unsupervised routine and more complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialised laboratory equipment.
  • Be responsible for delegated tasks involved in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care.
  • Assist with the establishment and development of departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Assist Section Head/BMS3 in the formulation of departmental strategies for the training and development of all non-medical staff within the department and users of the service as appropriate.
  • Degree in Biomedical Science or similar.
  • Experience in a Histology lab.
  • Experience working in Digital Pathology.
  • Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
  • Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable.
