Digital Preservation Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Digital Archives Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading organization in the field of digital preservation and contribute to the development of our digital archives.
Job SummaryThe Digital Archives Assistant will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our digital archives, including routine digital archiving tasks, administration of social media accounts, and preparation of publicity materials. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of archaeology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the accessioning, mounting, and indexing of data collections, validation of data, and conversion of data into different formats.
- Support the administration of social media accounts and the preparation and production of publicity materials.
- Respond to general enquiries about our services and escalate complex issues accordingly.
- Undertake directed and self-directed informal and formal training.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) equivalent or above, including Maths and English.
- A good knowledge of archaeology.
- An ability to make effective use of standard office computer systems, including word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
You should also be tactful and diplomatic, adaptable, and motivated towards good customer service. A degree-level qualification in archaeology or a relevant subject, and/or experience of work in the historic environment or archives sector, are desirable.
This is a fixed-term position for 3 years, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience in digital preservation and archives management.
