Job Title: Digital Preservation Archivist

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Preservation Archivist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of our digital assets.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the preservation of digital archives, including the preservation of websites and online resources. You will work closely with our records management team to ensure that our digital records are properly managed and preserved for future generations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement digital preservation strategies to ensure the long-term accessibility and viability of our digital records.
  2. Work with our records management team to ensure that digital records are properly managed and preserved.
  3. Collaborate with our digital cataloguing team to ensure that digital and non-digital archives are properly catalogued and preserved.
  4. Develop and implement procedures for the digitisation of non-digital objects, such as paper and parchment records and chapters or images in published books.
  5. Ensure that our digital preservation systems are properly maintained and updated to ensure the long-term preservation of our digital assets.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in digital preservation and a proven track record of developing and implementing digital preservation strategies. You will also need to have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
