The University of Manchester is a world-leading research-intensive university, and as part of its commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing global challenges, we are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Cyber-Risk Impact Awareness Scanning Tool Specialist.

This 12-month Postdoctoral Research Associate position, starting from 1st January 2025, will be based at the University of Manchester and will conduct cutting-edge research on cyber-risk impact awareness scanning tools for UK future sustainable energy networks.

About the Role:

  • We are looking for a highly motivated and talented researcher with a strong background in cyber-security and power network resilience analysis.
  • The successful candidate will design and develop a comprehensive cyber risk impact awareness scanning software tool capable of distinguishing between equipment failure, plant faults, extreme weather impacts, and cyber-attacks.
  • The role will involve conducting thorough power network resilient analysis, assessing cyber system vulnerability, and carrying out cyber risk impact analysis of actual loss of physical components on power systems.

About the Project:

The Cyber-RIAST project aims to investigate suitable methods for developing a cyber risk impact awareness scanning software tool for UK electricity networks against advanced cyber-attacks. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of this critical tool, which will play a vital role in enhancing the security and resilience of the UK's energy infrastructure.
