We are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems (Operations) Limited. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operational cyber engineering and be able to factor security requirements into system design, development, and testing.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Understanding various development methodologies and how they fit in with different delivery approaches.
  • Conducting, supporting, and encouraging constructive code reviews for peers.
  • Adopting a pragmatic approach to changing customer requirements and priorities, reporting on the impact and suggesting appropriate aspects to de-scope.
  • Embracing emerging technology and language trends, evaluating beneficial emerging tools and championing their adoption and rollout.
  • Conducting software development in line with business and industry best practices.
  • Identifying risks associated with software development tasks and mitigating and/or escalating as necessary.
  • Planning appropriate testing approaches and justifying them according to different risk profiles.
  • Modeling and performing analysis on problems and solutions.
  • Designing, coding, and documenting software from a logical design.
  • Overcoming development obstacles to deliver quality code within time and budget constraints.
  • Collaborating with team members to integrate developed code seamlessly into the solution.
  • Implementing continuous integration where appropriate.
  • Defining and writing test scripts and unit, integration, and system tests for developed software.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of how computers work, including compiled and interpreted languages, and will be proficient in at least one solution language, such as C++, Java, or C#. They will also have experience with a variety of development tools, including IDEs, debuggers, and source control systems. Additionally, they will be able to use and configure multiple major operating systems, including Windows, OSX, and Linux.
