About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a SEN Special School in Horsham. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with moderate to severe and multiple learning difficulties, including physical disabilities, sensory impairment, ASC, and SEMH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to students throughout the school day, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Collaborate with the specialist provision to ensure a holistic approach to meeting students' needs.
- Develop and implement strategies to incorporate the use of senses into learning, enhancing students' engagement and understanding.
- Support students in developing their speech, language, and communication skills, fostering effective communication and relationships.
- De-escalate challenging situations, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with students to understand their choices, needs, and wishes, empowering them to make informed decisions and take ownership of their learning.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting individuals with SEND or in a care setting is desirable.
- Ability to undergo training in Team Teach and other relevant areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Commitment to promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
