About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our team at Galliford Try. As an Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the Framework Head of HS&E on all environmental aspects, including implementing the HS&E strategy and systems to ensure exemplary environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that supports our HS&E culture, maturity, and behaviours to deliver HS&E excellence.
  • Support the implementation of our HS&E strategy to drive continual improvement through the business, addressing short-, medium-, and long-term growth and learning.
  • Promote a positive HS&S culture consistent with Galliford Try's Challenging Beliefs and Affecting Behaviours programme and business leadership ambitions.
  • Implement our environmental management system, taking account of client requirements, to align with our overall strategy and drive performance through our processes and standards.
  • Engage with internal and external key stakeholders, including client, supply chain partners, regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and colleagues, through the project lifecycle.
  • Provide environmental input to operational teams from the planning stage through to completion, through technical and specialist guidance and advice to support proactive planning and implementation of our standards.
  • Utilise environmental performance KPIs to review performance and drive continual improvement.
  • Contribute to continual improvement to unlock gains in environmental performance and mitigate risk to GT that could occur through environmental related issues.
  • Proactively collaborate with our teams on all HS&E matters which may affect our projects.
  • Escalate and report any environmental concerns to the Framework HS&E Manager and to the Operations Team.
About You
  • Aware of individual environmental responsibilities and adhere to company environmental policy and procedures.
  • Highly collaborative and outstanding relationship building capacity, with strong communication, negotiating, engaging, and influencing skills - fostering a one-team approach across a complex organisation.
  • Thrives in complex, dynamic, working environments and relationships.
  • Track record in applying restless curiosity to create positive outcomes in similar environments.
  • Able to evidence a well-structured, systematic approach to identify and analyse problems, understand risks, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Ideally experienced in either infrastructure, water, or similar regulated markets.
  • Proven in environmental management, systems, risks, and legal frameworks.
  • Experienced in delivering environmental role in a project lifecycle environment (prepare, design and construction).
  • Knowledge of data analytics and reporting systems.
  • Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages.
  • Relevant HS&E experience in a similar industry.
  • Holds a NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate or is working towards one.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across projects / contracts in region.
