Job Title: Data Protection Legal Advisor

At Betting & Gaming Limited, we're seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Legal Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of data protection laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Breach Management: Report data breaches to the relevant authorities, conduct internal assessments, and advise the business on the next steps.
  • Industry Forums: Engage with industry forums, such as Single Customer View and the European Betting and Gaming Association, to stay up-to-date on industry developments.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide strategic advice on key projects involving complex data issues, such as facial recognition, AI, and sophisticated algorithms.
  • M&A Transactions: Support the business on M&A transactions involving personal data, completing due diligence assessments and evaluating marketing and database plans.
  • Data Sharing Initiatives: Support the UK business on complex data sharing initiatives, such as Single Customer View and Affordability, working with the Chief Privacy Officer to define strategy and create privacy documentation.
  • US Privacy Laws: Support our joint venture on US privacy queries and build the privacy programme, focusing on Colorado, California, Virginia, and understanding data infrastructure for data mapping purposes.
  • Executive Committees: Attend Executive and Senior Leadership Committees, covering privacy for retail, online, legal, and compliance, and present data privacy updates.
  • AI Governance Programme: Support the AI Governance Programme at Entain and provide strategic advice to the Governance team.
Requirements:
  • Extensive Experience: Extensive experience in-house or at a law firm, with a strong understanding of data protection laws, particularly the UK General Data Protection Regulation and other international data protection legislation.
  • Qualifications: Degree-level qualified, such as Legal, Privacy, or IT/Comms degree with a compliance add-on.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with the Privacy Lawyers and other DPOs, with minimal supervision.
