Consultant Radiologist in Interventional Neuroradiology

This is a new post to meet the growing demand in Neurointervention services. The appointee will join a team of experienced neuroradiologists providing the full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. The department currently provides acute mechanical thrombectomy service Monday-Friday between 08:00-20:00 with plans to extend to a 24-hour service once the thrombectomy service is fully established.
Main Duties of the JobA standard full-time job plan will contain 10 programmed activities (PAs) comprising PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and for supporting activities (SPAs). SPAs are classed as 'core' and cover time for training, teaching, CPD, audit, appraisal, clinical governance, and attendance at service meetings. There are opportunities to participate in undergraduate teaching within the Hull York Medical School curriculum. Additional SPA time can be allocated for research, clinical management, and educational supervisor (ES) activity.

Job ResponsibilitiesThe appointee will be responsible for managing and leading radiology teams, leading on the smooth and efficient running of the unit, and organizing, prioritizing, and managing high-intensity workloads. They will also be expected to develop, present, and operationalize coherent ideas for service development and delivery.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have a subspecialty interest within neurointerventional radiology, with experience of supervising junior medical staff, a commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs, and medical students, and evidence of participation in audit. They will also have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses, and other health professionals, and be willing to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, and national levels.
