General Engineering Apprentice

Our client is a well-established chemical manufacturing company based in the UK.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Engineering Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our chemical plant.
- Develop a thorough understanding of our MAPP and Safety and Environment Management Systems.
- Comply with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements.
- Inspect and use plant equipment, machinery, and personal protective equipment correctly, and report any defects to line management.
- Respond to abnormal situations and emergencies in accordance with site Emergency Procedures.
- Ensure employees, including permanent, temporary, or fixed contract workers, understand and comply with the MAPP.
- Ensure visitors or contractors to your Department comply with the Policy and its associated procedures.
- Ensure all safety and environmental protection equipment is adequate and maintained in sound working order.
- Carry out and regularly review risk assessments of all work activities and ensure adequate control measures are in place.
- Provide adequate training and instruction to employees appropriate to their work.
- Assess and approve new equipment, modifications, or changes to systems of work before implementation.
- Implement, monitor, and review Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures under your ownership.
- Perform the role of Incident Officer in the event of a Major Emergency or be available to carry out the responsibilities of the Site Incident Controller if deemed competent.
- Monitor the workplace for compliance with the Health, Safety, and Environment programme and report findings to the appropriate Manager.
We are looking for a candidate with a degree in a relevant Engineering discipline and proven experience in Maintenance/Reliability and Projects within a Chemical/Petrochemical environment.
- Wide knowledge of engineering practice and chemical plant maintenance.
- Management of multi-disciplined departments in maintenance and project activities.
- Contractual administration and financial/budgetary control and management.
- Communication with Local Authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Contracts, and Consultants.
A competitive salary of £65,000 to £75,000 plus bonus and benefits.
