We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at The Goodinge Group Practice.

About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient prescribing practices within our practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, and Care Navigation teams to ensure adherence to agreed prescribing procedures and guidelines
  • Process repeat medication requests, including converting acute requests to repeat medications and updating quantities of medicines as required
  • Issue prescriptions in line with clinical protocols and within competency levels, as agreed with the Clinical Pharmacist
  • Update and maintain accurate patient medication records on EMIS, including advice given and action taken
  • MEDICATION RECONCILIATIONS POST DISCHARGE AND LIAISING WITH SECONDARY CARE AND COMMUNITY COLLEAGUES TO ENSURE CORRECT MEDICATIONS ARE CONTINUED FOLLOWING TRANSFER OF CARE

You will be responsible for ensuring that all major MHRA drug alerts are acted upon within appropriate time frames and advising on any medication changes that occur as a result.

The ideal candidate will have current GPhC registration, BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences, and experience working in a primary care environment. Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas such as Medicines Management/Pharmacy Services are desirable.

A strong understanding of pharmacy law and ethics, current legislation, and good clinical pharmacy knowledge is essential. You will also need to be computer literate with ability to use GP clinical systems and Microsoft Office packages.

The salary for this position is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience, and is based on the national average for Pharmacy Technicians in the UK.
