Purchase Ledger Clerk Job Description

At Cammell Laird, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of supplier invoices, ensuring timely approval, resolving invoice queries, and reconciling supplier statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Invoice Processing: Accurately process supplier invoices into the accounting system using P2P technology, ensuring invoices are coded correctly and match purchase orders.
  • Approval Management: Track and follow up on invoice approvals from relevant departments, ensuring invoices are approved in a timely manner to avoid payment delays.
  • Invoice Queries: Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or queries related to supplier invoices, liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Supplier Statement Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile supplier statements to ensure all invoices and payments are accounted for, identifying and rectifying any discrepancies between supplier statements and the company's records.
Requirements:
  • AAT Level 2 or higher preferred
  • Excellent Microsoft Skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Previous Purchase Ledger experience in a busy office environment
  • Previous experience of Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confident with working high volumes of data whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy
  • Able to identify, challenge, and recommend process improvements
  • Strong focus on customer success
  • Organized and resilient under pressure
  • Positive attitude, keen passion for driving efficiency, and self-development along with strong team orientation
