We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEMH school in Southampton. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching staff and students in creating a calm and supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education tailored to students' individual needs
- Work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to enhance their learning experience
- Assist with classroom management and ensure the learning environment is engaging and positive
- Help students develop their social and emotional skills both in class and in the community
- Provide support during school activities, including class trips and enrichment programmes
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans and interventions
- Experience working with children with SEMH and/or other needs is preferred
- A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude with a passion for helping students succeed
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
- A willingness to adapt and support students with varying needs and abilities
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
