About the Job

Vattenfall is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our UK HV Operations Team as a Trainee High Voltage Technician - Onshore Wind. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in assisting with maintenance and construction services for HV assets across the UK in our Onshore Renewables portfolio.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will work closely with a team of skilled HV Engineers, SAPs, and supporting staff to deliver high-quality services across all aspects of the HV industry. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of HV equipment
  • Interpretation of electrical drawings and records
  • Carrying out electrical testing and fault finding
  • Carrying out mechanical modifications and repairs
  • Completing assessment and completion reports
  • Carrying out high voltage and low voltage switching as required
  • Providing safety from the system for contractors and individuals
  • Assessing safety and applying controls and safety measures required
  • Completing RAMS, job packs, test certificates, and reports
  • Facilitating a safe working environment during high/low voltage working
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies, and procedures of Vattenfall
  • Working towards becoming an authorisation engineer of Vattenfall Electrical and Mechanical safety Rules
  • Liaising closely with the HV & site team to understand and manage priorities
  • Attending training and continuous development opportunities as required
Location and Travel

The base location of the role is at our Pen y Cymoedd Wind farm in South Wales, with travel to other Vattenfall sites and contractor's offices within the UK/Europe as and when required.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A full driver's license
  • A B-Tec Level 3 or equivalent
  • Previous training in Electrical substation power distribution or industry supply introduction courses would be advantageous
  • City and Guilds Accredited Power Foundation Course
  • Computer literate - skilled in MS office
