Advanced Data Engineer for Investment Decision Support

We are a leading consulting firm, Portman Scott, and we are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support our clients in making informed investment decisions.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in data engineering and a strong foundation in computer science, data science, and mathematics. This role involves working with various technologies to design, develop, and maintain large-scale data systems that provide valuable insights to our clients.
Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using Python and relevant libraries;
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data systems;
- Analyzing complex data sets to identify trends and patterns that inform investment decisions;
- Developing and maintaining data visualizations using tools like Matplotlib, Plotly, or Tableau;
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve our data engineering capabilities.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field;
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on independent project ownership and end-to-end solution development;
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Django, or similar;
- Familiarity with cloud services (preferably Google Cloud) and data visualization tools;
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of £80,000 - £95,000 per annum, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. As a remote worker, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK while still being part of a collaborative team.
