Postdoctoral Research Scientist - mRNA Translation and Membrane Trafficking

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at the CRUK Scotland Institute in Glasgow, Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research using in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro methodologies to investigate the influence of mRNA translation regulation on membrane trafficking events in hepatocytes, particularly in the context of hepatocellular carcinoma initiation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research using advanced in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma initiation.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art cryo-EM tomography to visualize molecular details of the interplay between mRNA translation and membrane trafficking machineries.
  • Collaborate with a vibrant and inclusive research team to drive scientific discovery and advance our understanding of cancer biology.
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the regulation of extracellular matrix deposition in the liver.
Requirements:
  • Successful (or nearly completed) PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience in molecular and/or cell biological approaches.
  • Willingness to work with murine models of liver disease and cancer.
  • Prior experience with ribosome profiling/footprinting and proteomic approaches (advantageous but not essential).
  • Strong motivation for discovery science and collaborative team work.
