Are you an experienced Oncology Care Specialist Nurse looking for a rewarding opportunity?

CK Group is seeking a dedicated Oncology Care Specialist Nurse to join a prominent pharmaceutical and life sciences organization. This position involves collaborating closely with designated hospitals and care centers, providing comprehensive support in the comfort of patients' homes.

Role Overview:

This is a field-based position covering a specified geographical area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments to determine patient needs.
  • Facilitate training sessions to ensure patients and/or caregivers can safely self-administer prescribed oncology medications, including oral therapies. This includes educating patients about the service, medication administration, storage, potential side effects, and emergency contacts.
  • Offer continuous support to patients through various programs, including telephone consultations, clinic visits, and home visits as per product and client protocols.
  • Evaluate patients' home environments to confirm suitability for home IV oncology treatments, ensuring safety and effective communication methods are in place.
  • Perform line care for all IV oncology patients, maintaining cleanliness and clarity of lines.
  • Change dressings and provide guidance on line care to patients and their caregivers.
  • Administer all IV oncology medications for patients undergoing treatment.
  • Review blood results and make informed decisions regarding treatment continuity based on critical levels, collaborating with referring consultants on any concerns.
  • Manage blood transfusions for patients or coordinate with qualified nurses for administration.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with part 1 NMC registration.
  • Certification in chemotherapy administration.
  • Experience in delivering oncology medications in either hospital or community settings.
  • Proficient in conducting clinical assessments and administering subcutaneous injections.
  • Knowledgeable in the care of IV devices and the administration of IV therapies.
  • Essential clinical skills include clinical assessment, IV injection administration, chemotherapy delivery, cannulation, and phlebotomy.
  • Strong understanding of relevant therapies and NHS protocols for managing patients with treated conditions.
