Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced solicitor to join our team at North Lanarkshire Council. As a solicitor in our Legal Services department, you will provide professional legal advice and support to the council on a range of matters related to heritable property, commercial and residential landlord/tenant issues, and planning and building control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to council officers and members on heritable property, commercial and residential landlord/tenant issues, and planning and building control.
  • Manage a large and diverse caseload, including heritable property work, commercial and residential landlord/tenant issues, and planning and building control.
  • Work closely with other council departments to ensure effective delivery of council services.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to council staff on legal matters.

Requirements

  • Be a fully qualified solicitor with a Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent.
  • Hold a current unrestricted Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge and recent experience of heritable property advisory and transactional work.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time post working Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.15pm.
