We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 2:2:1 support for a primary-aged child with autism in their home environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with another support staff member to deliver tailored, focused support for the child.
  • Establish a safe, positive, and structured environment, adapting to the child's specific needs, routines, and learning style.
  • Use autism-specific strategies to foster communication, social skills, and sensory regulation.
  • Engage the child in activities appropriate to their developmental level and interests, encouraging learning and growth.
  • Maintain detailed records of the child's progress, noting challenges, improvements, and adjustments in behavior and learning.
  • Communicate regularly with the family and any involved professionals to ensure cohesive, holistic support.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with autism
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in SEN or child care (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN Teaching Assistant certification, or equivalent)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of autism and experience with autism-specific strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members and family.

Additional Requirements: Enhanced DBS check and flexibility for occasional changes in hours if needed.
