Community Health Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Community Health Nurse to join our team at Central London Community Health Trust. We are seeking a dedicated professional with experience in working with children and families in a formal health setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering public health care and health promotion initiatives in accordance with The Healthy Child Programme.
Main Responsibilities
• Support the work of the 0-19 Public Health Team with planned programmes of public health care and health promotion.
• Undertake activities as delegated by the Health Visitor, in support of the delivery of the 0-19 service.
• Support the delivery of a 'child-focused service' which promotes good partnership working with parents, nurseries, children's centres and other agencies.
• Participate in service development and health improvement activities.
• Advise parents/carers on positive parenting skills, including understanding and managing child behaviour, introduction to solids and nutrition, play and stimulation, speech and language development, sleep management and toilet training.

Person Specification
• BTEC Diploma in Child Care or NVQ in Child Care level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience of working with children and families in a formal health, educational or social care setting.
• Evidence of ongoing training in Early Years.
• Ability to assess a situation, identifying any risk or potential problem and act appropriately.
• Knowledge of safeguarding children, normal child development, parenting skills and the importance of play.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, make and record observations of children's behaviour and development, and demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
