Head of History in Kew

Ribbons & Reeves is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of History to join our client, an oversubscribed comprehensive Secondary School in Kew. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the History department, refreshing the planning and delivery of the History Curriculum, and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team on whole-school development.

This permanent position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including an Outer London Pay Scale (MPS/UPS + TLR). As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and demonstrate your subject expertise as a History Teacher.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a 2:1 History-related Degree from a UK Top 20 University, UK QTS gained through PGCE / Schools Direct / SCITT / Teach First, and extensive experience as a History Teacher and/or experience as Head of History. They will also possess the ability to demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE and A-Level History and a thorough understanding of current educational thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the History department and develop a clear vision for the subject
  • Refresh the planning and delivery of the History Curriculum with the support of experienced Teachers
  • Work closely with members of the Senior Leadership Team on whole-school development

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a 2:1 History-related Degree from a UK Top 20 University
  • UK QTS gained through PGCE / Schools Direct / SCITT / Teach First
  • Extensive experience as a History Teacher and/or experience as Head of History
  • Ability to demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE and A-Level History and a thorough understanding of current educational thinking

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
