Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Highway Development Management Engineer to lead our Development Management Implementation (DMI) Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of staff, providing technical work outputs to internal and external stakeholders, and delivering high-quality highway design and transport planning services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of staff to deliver highway design and transport planning services
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement project management plans to ensure successful delivery of highway schemes
  • Review and approve developers' proposals for highway works and checking specifications for works on adopted highways or roads offered for adoption
  • Carry out site inspections during and following the construction period, including preparation of remedial works and liaison with developers
  • Review Transport Assessments and other transport and highways related documents received as part of a planning application
  • Provide pre-application advice to developers on Transport and Highways matters
Requirements
  • Significant highway design experience, ideally working on behalf of a local authority or private sector developer
  • Proven project management capabilities and staff management experience
  • Ability to work in a hybrid office/working from home environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to site visits and meetings within the county as and when required
