About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance is a leading provider of insurance solutions, and we are currently seeking a skilled Technical Underwriter to join our team. As a Technical Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting new and existing business, providing technical support, and coaching colleagues to ensure exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and negotiate underwriting solutions that meet customer needs and align with Ecclesiastical's strategy.
  • Provide embedded underwriting support at partner and customer sites as required.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as a referral point for the wider customer service area and provide structured coaching to individuals.
  • Identify training needs and deliver training where appropriate to enhance team performance.
  • Use effective communication methods to support Ecclesiastical's right-first-time approach and maintain successful internal and external relationships.
  • Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance.
  • Analyse team audit results, identify solutions, and implement improvements to future results.
  • Understand and operate within regulatory frameworks, identifying and escalating any risks to the business.
  • Identify and resolve complaints in line with company policy.
  • Provide team manager support as required and represent Ecclesiastical at customer, partner, and industry events.
  • Act as a liaison between the area and the head office underwriting team, providing project support as required.
  • Expand personal technical and niche knowledge through informal and formal channels, including networking, industry press, and in-house training.
Requirements
  • ACII qualified or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale.
  • Graduate from Ecclesiastical's internal Underwriting academy at level 3 within an agreed timescale.
  • In-depth insurance technical knowledge.
  • Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment.
  • Confident and influential communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
  • The ability to build and manage co-operative and productive relationships.
  • A proven track record of acting as a coach within a commercial environment.
  • Experience and ability to analyse and produce relevant Management Information (MI).
