About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our Ceded Re Data and Analytics team at Markel International Services Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in developing and enhancing our reinsurance analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of Markel's Ceded Re analytics capabilities to improve our ability to analyze reinsurance structures and optimize reinsurance spend in line with our risk appetite.
  • Collect and prepare data from internal data hubs for reinsurance renewal submissions, working closely with Reinsurance Placement colleagues to ensure timely and accurate collation of exhibits.
  • Build engaging data stories by analyzing data movements and investigating material developments.
  • Support post-placement data capture and portfolio analysis, including spend analysis, cost allocation, and impact on profitability.
  • Improve current processes and develop reporting solutions and data visualization techniques to provide valuable Ceded Reinsurance insights and services to the business.
  • Build strong working partnerships with data owners across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the actuarial domain, with a strong understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Power BI, as well as experience with data manipulation tools like SQL, Alteryx, or similar.
