Actuarial Analyst Job Description

The Emerald Group is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Analyst to join our team. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in assisting our team of actuaries and brokers in handling large data sets and building complex models to evaluate risk and factors that affect loss liabilities and capital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Preparation: Prepare data for analysis and consult with actuaries and brokers to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Actuarial Templates: Populate actuarial templates, including experience and exposure models, to support business decisions.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute to team meetings and maintain a positive team ethos.
  • Deliverables: Deliver actuarial work in a clear, coherent, and consistent manner, adhering to peer review, actuarial peer review, and compliance.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, reinsurers, and clients to support new business development within reinsurance actuarial services.
  • Project Support: Assist in project or client work through the utilization of team members.
  • Professional Development: Sit the Institute of Actuaries exams, although exemptions may be considered for individuals who no longer wish to pursue the exams.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, economics, math, statistics, or a related field, with some exemptions to actuarial exams considered.
  • Technical Skills: Technical experience in pricing, reserving, or capital modeling, with coding experience in Python, R, SQL, VBA, or comparable platforms.
