About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Health and Safety Expert to join our team as a Senior Principal Designer. As a key member of our project team, you will play a critical role in ensuring project compliance with health and safety legislation and capturing and sharing knowledge across projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015: Comply with the responsibilities of the principal designer, including informing and assisting clients in discharging their duties at each stage of the process.
  • CDM2015 Independent Client Advisor: Establish a record of principles and decisions taken in relation to health and safety in feasibility studies, receive strategic briefs and advise on the development of the project brief.
  • Site Visits and Appraisals: Visit sites and carry out an initial appraisal to establish existing hazards and site restrictions, advise and assist clients in the appointment of designers and contractors.
  • Design Reviews and Health and Safety Matters: Carry out design reviews with team members and co-ordinate health and safety matters, ensuring that designers have established safe methods for construction of unusual or complex designs.
  • Client Representation: Represent the company in a professional and diligent manner, meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
  • Business Development: Generate new principal designer work and contribute to the growth and development of our business.
Requirements
  • Certified or Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS/IMaPS)
  • Previous Experience as a CDM Co-ordinator/Principal Designer (as defined under the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015)
  • Recognised Professional Qualification in Construction Health and Safety, such as a NEBOSH diploma or NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Experience in Delivering CDM/Principal Designer Services to private and public sector clients on a mixture of projects
  • Good Technical Writing, Client-Facing and Communication Skills
  • Well-Organised, Diligent, Proactive, Assertive, Well-Disciplined and Commercially Astute
  • A Team Player with a 'Can Do' Attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
  • Ability to Self-Organise and Self-Motivate
  • Full Driving Licence
