Principal Electrical Engineer - AWE

This exciting opportunity exists for a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the Engineering Safety Organisation at AWE Plc. As a key member of the team, you will provide technical guidance and support to implement effective engineering safety across multiple projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing strategies to establish and maintain high standards of electrical engineering safety.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to review and assess electrical safe systems of work for compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of engineering safety legislation and best practices.
  • Providing authoritative advice on the safe and effective implementation of engineering safety and ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
  • Overseeing the application of engineering safety principles by supply chain specialist contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Engineering Safety Organisation.

Key Requirements:

  • A deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including The Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671, and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety on construction sites HSG141 and DSEAR Regulations.
  • A recognised engineering/electrical-related qualification (Level 4/HNC/HND etc) or equivalent suitable experience, such as EngTech MIET.
  • Demonstrable expertise in maintaining electrical building services.
  • The ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to achieve engineering safety objectives.

Estimated Salary: £82,250 per annum.
