Purpose of the Role

Colas Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surfacing Supervisor to join their team in Speke, covering the North West region. As a key member of the Surfacing team, you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of all secured contracts, ensuring management of Key Client expectations and compliance with quality procedures and safe working practices.

Main Responsibilities

As a Surfacing Supervisor, your primary duties will include:

  • Ensuring all schemes have relevant pre-scheme site-specific checks carried out prior to arriving on site
  • Allocating resources and plant to schemes in line with build-ups provided by the Operations Manager
  • Producing and managing weekly programmes for all labour and plant
  • Carrying out and encouraging Toolbox talks through the whole team
  • Recording all tool box talks delivered on the Share drive registers
  • Ensuring all operatives have the correct PPE available at all times
  • Investigating meetings, including potential disciplinary issues
  • Ensuring all materials are booked and correct in line with the scheme specification
  • Reporting plant defects to the P&T department
  • Encouraging Near Miss and MSO reporting through the Foreman and Sub agents
  • Providing excellent records for accurate forecasting and monthly/final accounting
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have an appropriate ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction/Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in Surfacing. They must have a high level of experience in highway construction and maintenance, with good engineering knowledge and understanding to ensure compliance with industry specifications and standards.

A full clean driving licence is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be approachable, able to work as a team, and provide leadership, motivation, and direction to all site personnel.
