About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Lending Underwriter to join our team at Yorkshire Building Society. As a key member of our Commercial Lending team, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial mortgage cases, ensuring that our lending decisions are made in a responsible and prudent manner.

You will have a proven track record of underwriting complex commercial mortgage cases, with a strong understanding of credit assessment and risk management. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships with our lending managers and other stakeholders.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial mortgage types, including commercial investment, corporate buy-to-let, and commercial owner-occupied properties. You will also be responsible for providing robust guidance and challenge to our portfolio management team, ensuring that we are identifying any concerns and protecting our position.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in commercial lending, with experience of underwriting corporate buy-to-let and/or commercial investment transactions. You will also need to have a personal underwriter mandate for either BTL or commercial property investment lending.

You will be a confident communicator with excellent relationship-building and influencing skills. You will be able to provide constructive challenge to lending proposals and the wider commercial lending team.
