SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teaching assistant to join our team at a well-established SEN school in Hassocks. The school caters for students aged 11-19 with autism and other complex needs, providing a supportive and stimulating learning environment that encourages students to achieve their full potential.
As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other staff to provide learning support and pastoral care to the students. Your key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons
- Monitoring and assessing student progress
- Helping with behaviour management and safeguarding
- Participating in extracurricular activities and school trips
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A passion for working with SEN students and a commitment to their wellbeing and development
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, or learning mentor in a SEN setting
- A relevant qualification or training in SEN, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
- A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and the National Curriculum
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
- A flexible and adaptable approach, and a willingness to learn and develop your skills
Location: Hassocks
Hours: 08:30-16:00
Availability: Mon-Fri
Salary: £19,500 - £22,000 per annum
