Pest Control Technician Role Overview

5 Star Recruitment is seeking an experienced and skilled Pest Control Technician to join our team. This exciting opportunity allows you to work in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional service to our clients.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to fill this key role. As a Pest Control Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality pest control services to residential and commercial properties. Your primary goal will be to identify and effectively manage pest infestations, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Pest Identification and Management: Competently identify the nature of pest infestations and apply effective treatment or management techniques, based on your knowledge of legislative restrictions, species biology, environmental protection considerations, and site data.
  2. Treatment and Prevention: Safely and humanely carry out treatments and prevention methods, including traps, culls, deterrents, pesticides, and biocides, adhering to The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) Code of Practice.
  3. Property Surveys and Assessments: Conduct thorough property surveys, internally and externally, including drains, and provide recommendations for repair works or structural considerations to prevent future infestations and mitigate the risk of spread.
  4. Proofing and Deterrent Work: Carry out proofing work to control and prevent infestations, ensuring materials and techniques align with housing fire safety guidance and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  5. Stray Dog Collection and Re-homing: Organize and perform stray dog collection using sound judgement and expertise, following safe systems of work and legislation.
  6. Pigeon Proofing and Cleaning: Assist in the organization and execution of pigeon proofing measures, including cleansing and removing pigeon matter as required.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in pest control, preferably in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pest control principles, practices, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Physical stamina to undertake frequent site visits, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations, COSHH, and waste disposal procedures.
Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent site visits, often in varying weather conditions. You will be required to work at heights, climb stairs, and lift equipment, with occasional travel to attend training sessions or meetings.
