Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pest Control Specialist to join our team at 5 Star Recruitment.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our pest control team, providing expert services to clients across the region. As a Pest Control Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality pest control services, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with legislative requirements and industry best practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough site surveys to identify pest infestations and recommend effective treatment strategies;
  • Carry out treatments and management techniques for infestations, including traps, culls, deterrents, pesticides, and biocides, in accordance with The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) Code of Practice;
  • Survey properties internally and externally, including drains, and make recommendations for further repair works or structural considerations to prevent future infestations;
  • Perform proofing work to control and prevent infestations, ensuring that materials and techniques used meet housing fire safety guidance and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015;
  • Organize and perform stray dog collection using sound judgment and expertise in line with safe systems of work and legislation;
  • Assist in organizing and performing pigeon proofing measures, including cleansing and removing pigeon matter as required;
  • Use, prepare, store, and transport pesticides in line with COSHH regulations, ensuring substances hazardous to health are properly controlled;
  • Collect payments for services from customers in accordance with unit procedures and financial regulations;
  • Provide advice to other council officers, members of the public, contractors, community groups, and stakeholders on pest control issues;
  • Produce accurate written records of site visits in report format, evidencing works completed to the required standard and quality in court proceedings;
  • Support, guide, train, and mentor apprentices, trainees, or work placement students through authoritative specialist knowledge of pest control while embodying customer care guidelines and initiatives;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new industry developments and legislative changes, participating in a CPD programme to improve individual skills, expertise, and knowledge;
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Extensive experience in pest control, preferably within a local authority or similar setting;
  • Strong knowledge of legislative requirements and industry best practices related to pest control;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to use IT systems, including mobile technology, to aid planning and modern ways of working;
Benefits and Salary

The salary for this role is £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits package including pension scheme and annual leave entitlement.
