Screwfix is a leading UK retailer seeking a skilled Buying Assistant to support our Category Manager in achieving sales and margin targets. As a key member of our Buying Team, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with range reviews and promotional activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Manage supplier setup and maintain accurate supplier information.
  • Address product, price, cost changes, catalogue & online errors, and quality issues promptly.
  • Provide regular updates to the line manager on progress and priorities.
  • Monitor competitor activity regarding products, pricing, and promotions.
  • Handle product samples efficiently within the Product Centre.

Qualifications

  • Accountability: Own your priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Agility: Adapt quickly to new situations and priorities.
  • Achieving Together: Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Customer First: Show interest in the commercial market and prioritize customer needs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a retail Buying Head Office and a keen commercial awareness.
