Job Title: Urogynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Gynaecology nursing team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care to women with urogynaecological conditions, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide competent and skilled care of women with urogynaecological conditions, working within an established multidisciplinary team.
  • Work as a specialist nursing resource within the outpatient setting, providing care under direct and indirect supervision, with due regard for local and national guidelines.
  • Assist with the further development of and provide day-to-day clinical care within the Specialist Urogynaecology Service for Worcestershire.
  • As a member of the gynaecology directorate multidisciplinary team, have responsibility for ensuring assessment of care needs, development, and evaluation of programmes of care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
  • Liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in primary and secondary care, coordinating all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.
Person Specification:
  • Post-registration qualification in oncology or relevant to specialty.
  • First Degree in health-related subject (or equivalent) or be willing to undertake.
  • Experience in gynaecological / female urological nursing / continence care at least 3 years.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Post-registration qualification in urogynaecology / women's health.
  • Higher degree in health-related subject (or to undertake within a year of being in post).
  • Advanced communication skills course/counselling qualification.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Clear understanding of the clinical nurse specialist/advanced practice nursing role and the associated responsibility and accountability.
  • Broad understanding of treatment modalities appropriate to the specialty.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NICE guidance and government targets relating to Urogynaecological specialty.
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Evidence of commitment to patient care initiatives and incorporation of cultural values into practice.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Evidence of innovative practice/evidence-based care.
  • Ability to work effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team across various professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Ability to display tact and manage boundaries.
  • Recognised advanced practice assessment skills, including physical assessment; electing and recommending appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to set and monitor standards.
Experience:
  • Experience in providing clinical services to patients in an acute and or community setting.
  • Demonstrate an extensive knowledge of bladder and bowel care within the Trust, primary care, network and nationally.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain good communication links with healthcare professionals/other healthcare agencies with regard to patients' care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of social & psychological support available for patients & how to access these.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of professional & legal spheres of accountability.
  • Maintains own professional development, ensuring skills & knowledge are updated in accordance with national & professional standards.
  • Knowledge of Health Promotion.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Research experience.
  • Knowledge of statistics & report writing.
