Job Description

ATS Scientific Products is seeking an Assembly Technician to join our team in Ipswich.

The Assembly Technician will be responsible for building and testing a range of products manufactured at the Ipswich facility. The successful candidate will be expected to follow quality procedures and QMS to ensure high specification products meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities


• Assemble mechanical and electrical sub-systems and full build of SP products.


• Test mechanical and electrical assemblies to ensure product quality standards are met.


• Chamber and condenser assembly, including gassing/evacuation and brazing.


• Perform low-level fault diagnoses and correction.


• Move materials and products as required.


• Conduct in-process quality inspections and testing of materials and products, maintaining quality records for QMS Iso 9001 accreditation.


• Assist with the training of colleagues on build and test processes when experienced.


• Highlight any defects with items received from outside contractors or suppliers.


• Meet defined build times for each product line at required quality levels and product specifications.

Ideal Experience

  • Experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment
  • Machine shop experience, including reading of mechanical drawings
  • Brazing and soldering skills
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work, including Manual handling techniques

Ideal Qualifications

  • Time served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
  • ONC, C&G, NVQ (or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline
