About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Analysis Leader to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a key member of our Analysis and Performance department, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying our evidence base and producing analysis to support the delivery of our strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Cross-UKRI Portfolio Analysis: Develop and deploy our evidence base to support the delivery of our strategy, and lead the development of a cross-UKRI portfolio analysis function.
  • Deliver Insights into UKRI's Portfolio and the Research and Innovation System: Deliver insights into UKRI's portfolio and the research and innovation system, and demonstrate how UKRI delivers government priorities.
  • Prepare Evidence to Support UKRI's Multi-Billion Bid: Prepare evidence to support UKRI's multi-billion bid at fiscal events such as Spending Review and subsequent allocations.
  • Improve the Evidence Base: Lead analytical projects to address gaps in our evidence base and anticipate future evidence needs.
  • Respond to New Strategic Priorities: Respond to new strategic priorities and lead analysis to address them, and ensure UKRI's business cases for new investment are underpinned by robust economics and demonstrate value for money.
  • Lead and Develop UKRI's Economics and Appraisal Community: Lead and develop UKRI's economics and appraisal community, and promote and further develop the guidance on appraisal best practice.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Analysis Leader who has a strong background in economics and analysis. You will have excellent analytical skills, strong communicating and influencing skills, experience of leading analytical teams, and a track record of delivery using strategic awareness to respond flexibly and adapt to shifting priorities.

You will be a confident and experienced leader who can build strong relationships with stakeholders across the community, set direction in the face of competing demands, and empower your team to deliver analysis that adds value to real-world strategic issues.

You will have a strong understanding of the research and innovation system, and be able to demonstrate how UKRI delivers government priorities. You will also have a track record of delivering high-quality analytical products that meet strategic needs, and be able to communicate analytical findings to non-technical audiences.
