Job Role:

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Chelmsford, a Category B Male prison. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the prison.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality maintenance services to meet the needs of the prison and its occupants.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced colleagues to maintain and repair commercial and industrial heating and water systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety requirements, including Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with and ability to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
